Wrestling Against myself is the story of High School senior and star wrestler Antonio LaMano. This is to be his year, the year where he puts everything together and achieves all of his goals on and off the mat. He is already a leader at Dunedin High School and at his church, but when a new girl shows up at school his convictions are tested.

What is with this girl? Why is she subject to taunts and bullying? Antonio is at a loss, but does not like the way the school is responding and decides to take action. Surely she is hiding a secret, but can any freshman girl do something so bad that it warrants such vile treatment? Antonio sets to find out.

When the secret is revealed that the girl is transsexual, Antonio is faced with a greater dilemma, does he forsake the girl and rejoin the crowd or does he go against the tide and try to weather the storm. Either choice carries with it great consequences.

Katie Leone is quickly becoming a popular author in several genres as she writes novels that address serious and controversial cultural issues. With realistic characters and believable story lines she tackles many issues that face both the transgender and Christian community. Currently residing in Tampa, Ms. Leone has worked as a teacher, a minister, a life coach and was on the Board of directors of a local charity. Currently she has dedicated herself to teaching through her writing and has many more works planned.

Well worth reading

A book about high school life and growing up, but with an interesting twist. Anybody who knows the author, or her works, will know what Courtney's secret is going to be from the start. However, even if you know what is coming, it is the suspense of when the main characters are going to find out, and how people are going to react, that makes this a thrilling read.

This book makes a refreshing change from others in the genre by not having the principle character be the one with the secret. Instead it is another student who is undergoing an identity crisis. This allows the author to explore the issues from a different angle.

The main character of this book is a born again Christian, and his faith shapes how he goes about life. It is his attitude of "doing the right thing" and not being judgemental, that dictates his actions throughout. I often find the use of religion in books off-putting. As someone who is not overly religious I find constant references to God annoying in some stories. However, despite the religious references, I didn't feel preached at with this book. I think Katie has done a good job in keeping the religious elements balanced. The discussions with the pastor help to show the thought processes the character is going through without becoming overwhelming.

This book is well worth reading and is well paced, holding suspense throughout as the girl's secret is slowly revealed to the school, and the fallout of her past affects all those around her.

Fantastic Story about the Trials and Tribuations of life

Being in high school is hard and Katie Leone has done a wonderful job depicting some of those hardships and trials that some people can go through. This story can become a Bestseller as it is exceptionally well written and describes the bigotry and hatred those that are different can experience from other people even if it is unintentional. Wrestling Against Myself is one story that will keep you in suspense till the very end.

The best cookie book

My wife, who is a fabulous cook and baker, returns again and again to this book when it is time for cookies. When it was lost in our kitchen remodel, she was almost inconsolable; when she found it in the garage she came skipping back to the house and started baking immediately. I can't imagine a better recommendation.

My Testomony

I got saved back in 2004 because of this little book called Power For Living. I saw this book advertised on T.V. and decided to order it. Being a divorced, single mom I suffered from a feeling of hopelessness and dispair even though I tried to hide it from others. Years earlier, while still married, I was diagnosed with what the Doctor's called 'chronic depression.' They told me I was incurable and would have to live with it for the rest of my life. It was so severe for a while that I could barely get out of bed and take care of myself or my family. I was sent to see a therapist which continued for 4 years. She was a feminist who eventually convinced me that if I got a divorce it would solve everything, since my unhappy marriage must have been to blame for my problams. So I took her advise, which I later would regret. What I discovered is that divorce caused a whole new set of problams like poverty, and trying to be a mom and a dad both at the same time. But mostly it had devestating affects on my children. The hurt and pain the divorce caused was more damage than I ever could have imagined. I felt like such a failure. I had trouble diciplining my kids. I was at work all the time and couldn't be home with them, they were failing in school and getting involved with the wrong kind of friends, even getting in trouble with the law. Then I lost my job and my apartment and had to put all my things in storage. I moved in with my boyfriend, which he only allowed because of my situation, but the whole time I was staying at his house it was obvious that he didn't really want us there, thus causing our relarionship to fall apart. One day I came to this realization that I was homesick and that I wanted more than anything to go home but I didn't know where home was. That's when God gave me this revelation that heaven was home. I started to weep, I thought God gave up on me, that He wouldn't want anything to do with me, but this experiance started to give me hope. I started listening to the christian radio programs. then one day I ran across that little blue book called 'Power For Living' in a box in my boyfriends garage. It's funny how that book was just laying in top of this box along with a bible I recieved from a friend years earlier. I had some cooking things in that box that I thought I might need at my boyfriends house but I didn't remember putting those books in there. I had ordered that book like a year earlier but never finished reading it. Now here it was. I read the book and said the prayer at the end of the book, asking God to forgive me of my sins and inviting Him to come into my heart and be my Savior. I remember a prayer in there that asked the Holy Spirit to give me understanding of Gods word as I read the bible. As soon as I started reading that bible the Lord filled me with His Spieit. I never felt such joy, such peace. That night as I lay in bed I actually heard the Lord speak to me and say "your name is written in the Lambs book of life"I have bacome a new creature in Christ, just as the word says. Now I understand what Jesus meant when He said "you must be born again". If you are searching for hope,peace, joy like I was then get this liittle book, or just pray right now and repent fo all your sins and ask God to come into your heart and save you, trusting Him alone to be your "personal" Lord and Savior. Then you will know Him, not just know things about Him. Thats the difference between being born again or just having head knowledge about who Jesus is. He is real,He is alive,and He will not turn anyone away no matter what they've done. He is no respector of persons. Why don't you call on Him today!

Knowing Jesus Christ can be as simple as receiving Him personally as your Lord and Savior. Without Him there is no power for Living, not only the Christian life, but the overcoming life in a lost confused world of a fallen creation.

Author Jane Remington has been a life-long student of holistic medicine and natural healing. For nearly thirty years she has worked closely with a naturopath and medical intuitive in helping many people battling disease to find true health, using only diet and healing supplements. Recaging the Beast is her account of her own healing journey, and her research into the true cause of most disease - yeast and fungal overgrowths in the body which stem from the use of antibiotics, steroids, hormones, and the ingestion of high carbohydrate foods, especially sugar. Recaging the Beast outlines the steps to eradicate the fungal overgrowths which fuel disease by building the immune system. Jane is also the author of a cookbook called The Yeast-Free Kitchen, which contains her own personal recipes to tame what she calls "the yeast-beast."

In the 1980s, author Jane Remington developed a systemic yeast infection after taking several courses of antibiotics prescribed after dental surgeries. While looking for a way to eliminate the Candida overgrowth, she found a naturopath by the name of Dr. Sylvia Flesner who put her on a yeast-free diet. Several weeks later, her immune system was restored and she regained her energy and health. In her book, Recaging the Beast, The Yeast-Fungal Connection: The Disease behind Disease, Jane Remington shares her knowledge about how the rise of diseases is directly linked to the overgrowth of the fungus Candida albicans. She contends there is a direct relationship between the yeast levels in our body and disease. Each health condition is a different but distinct manifestation of the same etiology or cause-fungus.

Remington explains that Candida albicans is a naturally occurring tiny one celled organism that normally resides in our gastrointestinal tract. When there is a fungal overgrowth that escapes from the gastrointestinal tract, the fungus goes on a rampage throughout the body and wreaks havoc on every system right down to the cellular level. The chemicals released from the yeast are toxic which leaves the body susceptible to a broad range of diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and even childhood conditions such as autism. Remington goes into much detail in explaining what yeasts are, their affects on the body and its systems, and the damage that results from the proliferation of yeast throughout he body. She highlights her own experiences working with renowned naturopath, Dr. Sylvia Flesner, and the astonishing results when patients embraced a yeast-free diet. As well, she cites many health studies to support her claims. She provides a detailed guide on adopting a yeast-free diet in order to contain the yeast in the gastrointestinal tract. She also outlines what should be avoided to eliminate yeast overgrowth and prevent future infestation, such as certain foods and beverages, antifungal supplements, antibiotics, and more. As well, Remington takes on the controversial issues surrounding vaccines, antibiotics, and the role Big Pharma plays in treating illness, not curing it.

One of the most impressive features of the book is the research. Remington does not just provide information on the importance of adopting a yeast-free lifestyle, but she has a done an incredible amount of research to support her arguments. She is able to deliver an honest account of where our future is going regarding the food and pharmaceuticals we put in our bodies. A Life-Changing Book

Jane Remington's Recaging The Beast has changed the way I look at my diet, my lifestyle and my world. Ms. Remington makes a very powerful and persuasive argument that all diseases, not only in us humans but in animals and even plants, originate from a fungus. With over 100,000 species of fungi in the world, "the strain called Candida albicans is the one that gives us so much grief (p. 26)." To further quote the author (p. 176):

The death certificate may read "heart attack," "kidney failure," "pneumonia," "liver disease," "cancer," etc. but you can be sure Candida albicans was there first and created the environment needed for the disease to develop. Again, it is the "disease behind disease."

The book goes to great detail to explain how our lifestyles "far from the way our Creator intended us to live (p. 33)" have led us on a road of disease and destruction. More importantly, however, the book provides a path towards a healthy lifestyle. The author provides wide-ranging tips for better living, including a yeast-free diet, with recommendations as detailed as product names and with a list of foods to eliminate. She also provides natural strategies for fighting back against diseases instead of simply relying on pharmaceuticals, chemotherapy and the like, confirmed by her own experience as a cancer survivor.

Best of all, Ms. Remington gets her point across without concentrating too much on the technicalities or using difficult language. Anyone can read and understand the book and its significance for his or her life. The author exceeds her goal from page 22 of completing "a book on the subject of yeast to be written by a layperson for the layperson."

This book will benefit anyone who reads it and puts its suggestions into practice. I highly recommend the book for everyone, layperson or otherwise.

A Mind-Blowing Book

Recaging the Beast by Jane Remington deserves to play a major role in revolutionizing American healthcare. This is a great book, a layman's masterpiece. Read it and the world will never look the same.

Thoroughly researched and passionately, beautifully, and engagingly written, it reveals the lifestyle issues and the agenda of the big pharmaceutical companies that are basically undermining health and could, unchecked, lead to the extinction of our own species. The intention of the book is also to help individuals recover and enhance their health through the yeast-free-diet that destroys the Candida fungus at the source of a wide spectrum of disorders.

The more people who read this book, the more likely it is that American health will improve exponentially and the astronomical cost of care will go down. Buy a copy for yourself, and then give another to someone you love.
